Are you looking for family in Evergreen Cemetery?

John Shuck, the Volunteer Coordinator has extracted the records on microfilm at the Library of Virginia.  If you are looking for family members this is a good place to start.  Please note that these records were handwritten on index cards and may contain errors but they are correct to the best of our ability and knowledge.  If you have info about family members (especially those buried before 1929, as those records have been lost), or corrections/updates, please share those with us.

I’m inspired by the work you all are doing at Evergreen. I suspect my husband’s Tancil great grandparents are buried there, but it would have been just before 1929 and they are not on the list. Wish I lived closer – I’d volunteer to help.

May I suggest one way to reach out to family members who might be interested in helping, is to post the photos of gravestones on an oft-linked free genealogy website called Find-A-Grave that has photos and records of millions of gravestones from around the world. I’ve found many relatives there. It’s a great way to get the word out to to descendants who might help you in your work.
